Marta Vieira da Silva grew up in one of the poorest cities in Brazil. As a child, she often practiced her soccer skills with a soccer ball made out of plastic bags tied together.
Despite having so many challenges, Marta became one of the best soccer players in history. Her amazing technique, speed, and ability to score goals led many to call Marta "the female equivalent of Pele".
"From very early on, I played soccer with boys on the street and always could do better than they could."
