Georgia O’Keeffe is one of America’s most acclaimed artists, known around the world for her paintings of enlarged flowers, New York skyscrapers, and southwestern landscapes.
Throughout her career—which lasted for seven decades—she stayed true to her unique style, often painting the flowers, scenery, and animal bones that she found around her art studio. She created thousands of art pieces during her lifetime. In 1985, she was awarded the National Medal of Arts.
“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for."
