Rosa Parks was an African American civil rights activist. She is considered the “Mother of the Modern-Day Civil Rights Movement”.
On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to obey bus driver James Blake’s demand that she give up her seat to a white man. Her arrest and trial led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, one of the largest and most successful movements against racism in the history of the United States.
